Selling your Home?

There are many options to display your property at it's very best.

Key points:

FEATURE WALL
Introduce an eye-catching feature wall to your room. Paint one wall, either a chimney breast, or a wall behind a sofa or bed in a bold colour, or use a large scale wallpaper pattern. This will create a strong focal point within the room. Your room will be rejuvenated, and you have only decorated one wall!

ACCENT COLOUR
Enliven neutral decor with an injection of colour! Select a contrast colour to your sofa, and take that colour through onto cushions, throws, art, and accessories, edit other belongings to achieve the maximum effect.

LIGHTING
Lighting can dramatically change the feeling of a room so invest in some new lamps, to create ambience in the evenings. Select feature pendant lights from the high street. Buy table lamps in pairs, and use to symmetrically flank a sofa.

MIRRORS
Large scale mirrors, bounce and reflect light into a room, and add depth and dimension to an otherwise boxy space. Place opposite a window for maximum light reflection. Mirrors look best if they are anchored visually, by hanging over a fireplace or sofa.

FOLIAGE
Rooms need to have an organic element to feel homely. Foliage from large plants, or simply a vase of seasonal flowers and foliage from the garden. Fresh is always best.

"More than Pictures"

As you look through the pages of most local property newspapers and magazines, all you generally see are pictures of properties. As you turn from page to page the only discernable difference between estate agents is their corporate colour scheme, which does not tell you a great deal about who they are, what they stand for, or what it would be like to work with them.

Additionally, most readers are not actually thinking of moving, although the majority of homeowners naturally have an ongoing interest in the local property market.

So, from next week, we will be publishing weekly articles that look at property-related issues. Not just about flats and houses that are currently available for sale, although these will always feature prominently in our adverts, but opinion, commentary and advice on the wider issues of property ownership.

After all, there is so much more to property than selling; yet few estate agents offer anything remotely associated with property lifestyle. This is surprising considering the overwhelming interest in property-related subjects on TV. Where most agents only appear interested in the sale, we see our role as helping with the move as a whole, including a contribution towards helping people enjoy their home.

So whilst many of our articles will offer advice on how to maximise your prospects of buying or selling quickly and with minimal stress, we will also consider other aspects of moving, including topics such as interior design, gardens, security, period and contemporary features, lighting, entertaining, etc..

We hope you find the articles we publish here over the coming weeks and months interesting, informative and relevant. And, if there is a property-related topic you would like to see in print, please let us know and we'll rise to the challenge.
